Families visiting Colorado with small children wanting to experience a Colorado River will enjoy our Family Float rafting trip.

Our Family Float is one of the most popular white water rafting trip in Colorado.

Children at least 35 pounds may participate in a Family FloatRafting Trip. This requirement can fluctuate with water flows.

WHAT TO EXPECT RAFTING FAMILY FLOAT:
RIVERRUNNERS offers fully guided whitewater rafting trips on our Family Float. Our Family Float is an incredible family rafting trip in the Arkansas Headwaters State Park.

Your Family Float Rafting trip will start at over 7,500 feet in elevation, at our Riverside Rafting Resort.

The Arkansas River Valley is located in Central Colorado in an area known as Colorado's "Banana Belt". This nickname is derived from the mild climate created by the shadow of the massive 14,000-foot collegiate peaks.

Once you meet your guide, he/she will fit you with a life jacket and discuss river safety and guidelines. River gear such as wetsuits and splash tops are available for rent and is usually only necessary if in-climate weather is present.

A short shuttle ride in one of our River Runner vans to the put in only takes about 5 minutes.

Your guides will unload the boats and launch you on the river. Fun splashes and small waves are experienced on this section. Your experienced guide will expertly navigate your raft.

If you are paddling, your guide will instruct you in the proper technique and commands.

If you are in an oar boat you will be instructed where to sit and how to hold on.

Your Family Float rafting trip will take about 1 Hour, with a good mix of waves, splashy whitewater, and time on the river to look for wildlife and waterfoul.

Throughout the trip you cannot help notice the incredible views of the surrounding 14,000 foot collegiate peaks.

During each trip there will be the opportunity to have your photograph taken by a professional photographer while you are rafting. River Runners rafting resort makes this trip unique because you float right back to our private beach where your vehicle awaits. 

At our rafting resort you may enjoy a beverage or light snack while viewing a slide show of photographs of your trip. Photos are available for purchase. You may purchase a print of you special pictures or a CDROM of all your photographs. Souvenirs are available for purchase.

Our location allows for a unique experience offered by no other outfitter.  

Hot showers are complementary to our guests.

On site recreational opportunities include volleyball, horseshoes, and river fishing. Our retail shop offers snacks, ice cream, refreshments and souvenirs.

Your Family Float whitewater rafting trip will depart from
RIVERRUNNERS Riverside Rafting Resort in Buena Vista, Colorado.

RIVERRUNNERS Riverside location saves you time on your Colorado vacation. You will be able to park your vehicle we will shuttle you 5 minutes by van up river and you will float righr back to our resort. This convenience is not found with other outfitters. They must shuttle you back to their office. Our services are more relaxing and easy.

Please arrive 1 HR prior to your trip departure time to check in and get outfitted with your rafting gear. Arrive earlier if you would like to have lunch at our Riverside Grill or plan to stay late after your rafting trip, we have a great selection of food and adult beverages.

AVOID SATURDAYS: If you have a flexible schedule please try to avoid white water rafting in Colorado on Saturdays. Many Colorado locals enjoy whitewater rafting on the weekends and Saturdays tend to be very busy.

HIGH WATER is typically the second week of May through the second week of June. This is typically the best time to go whitewater rafting in Colorado. Our age requirements may fluctuate during this time. Safety is our main priority and will not be compromised. We reserve the right to refuse service and alter white water rafting trips at any time.
